About us

Charnwood Waterski & Wakeboard Club is a relaxed and family friendly club welcoming both members and guests.

Based at Murphys Lake in Thurmaston on the outskirts of Leicester in the heart of the East Midlands, the club is run by a committed group of enthusiasts dedicated to promoting all disciplines of boat towed water sports.

Our facilities include an 6 buoy slalom course, ski jump and slider. We are a registered SBDA (Ski Boat Driver Award) test centre, and have BWS (British Water Ski) instructors offering coaching for both adults and children from beginner to pro.

The Lake is stocked with mature carp, weighing up to 35 lbs, as well as tench and perch giving excellent fishing from around 20 pegs.

  • Rossi Qualifies For 53rd Masters
    U.S. water ski athlete Chris Rossi qualified for the men's slalom event for the 53rd Masters Water Ski Tournament on Friday by scoring 3 buoys at 41 feet off at the Masters Last Chance Qualifier at Sunset Lakes in Groveland, Fla. Rossi had to score 2 buoys at 41 feet off and win the event to qualify for the Masters, which will be held May 26-27, in Pine Mountain, Ga.
  • Collegiate All-Stars This Weekend
    The 18th Collegiate All-Stars Water Ski Championships will be held Saturday and Sunday in Blaine, Wash. The event includes the top-10 men and top-10 women from each of the National Collegiate Water Ski Association's four regions vying for a team title and individual titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall.
  • Register For Cable Wakeboard Nationals
    The 2012 USA Wakeboard Cable Wakeboard National Championships will be held Sunday, June 3 at the new 100-acre WakeZone Cable Park in Oklahoma City. This year’s event is presenting a ,300 pro cash purse. Champions of the pro men and women divisions will be selected as members of 2012 U.S. Cable Wakeboard Team that will compete in the 2012 IWWF Cable Wakeboard World Championships, Nov. 9-11, in Manila, Philippines. Amateur results also will be used as part of the criteria for team selection. To register, click here.
  • Junior U.S. Open Field Announced
    USA Water Ski is pleased to announce the field of competitors (PDF) for the 12th Junior U.S. Open Water ski Championships. The 2012 Junior U.S. Open, a two-round world-record capability tournament, will be held June 2-3 at the Lake of Dreams in Jerseyville, Ill.
  • Orlando To Host Water Sports Festival
    Combining extreme sports, family-friendly entertainment and music in the world capital of water skiing, soaked is a new extreme water sports festival coming to Orlando, Sept. 7-8. Taking over downtown Orlando’s iconic centerpiece, Lake Eola, the festival will feature world champion water skiers competing for 0,000, along with music, motor shows, carnival rides, great food, and more.
